Analyzing Pakistan PM Imran khan’s speech – What it meant for India?

Prime minister Imran khan addressing speech in UNGA on Friday

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran khan delivered his speech in United Nations General Assembly Yesterday. It was his first speech in UNGA after becoming Prime Minister of Pakistan in July 2018.

PM Imran khan started his speech on climate change. What it meant to Pakistan and how they started a initiative by planting 5 million trees when they were heading the state government in the Pakistani Province of Khyber Pakhuntawa and how they are planning to grow 10 billion trees in whole Pakistan during their tenure. He furthur told about how the river water originating from Glaciers in the Himalayas and Hindu Kush mountains affect the lives of people.

After the climatic changes, he went on to talk about the foreign relations of Pakistan. How US funded Pakistan to help free Afghanistan from Soviet Rule in the 80s , How Taliban and Al-Qaida were created. Why Pakistan should not had joined US on their fight for terrorism after the 9/11 terror attacks. He also talked about Islamic terrorism and Islamophobia, on why Western countries are raising an eye on Islamic terrorists and not on terrorist belonging to other religions. After all this, he finally came on the most awaited topic – India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Pakistani PM described his relations with India. As he was a famous cricketer and had great fan following in India, he loved to go to India.Following this he says-“When my party came to power in July 2018, I wanted that peace talks should start with India as only disputes can be resolved through talks but they had other plans.” He further elaborated,”As elections were coming by,I thought that instigating the Indian Public against us(Pakistan) they would fetch votes. As every party does these all tactics to win elections.”

“After the elections were over, we thought talks between would start against again but this(Modi) government was on a totally different agenda as I realised this on August 5.” He further continued to bash ruling party in India i.e BJP and it’s erstwhile wing RSS. He further added that RSS is a Hindu-fundamentalist Organisation that was formed way back in 1925 and inspired by The Nazis of Germany,Adolf Hitler and Mussolini and that the Indian government is trying every possible way to make lives of Muslims and Christians Terrible. He blamed the RSS for mob lynching in India, for killing Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi and for removing article 370 to make lives of Kashmiri people as Kashmir is a Muslim majority region in India.

He further added that all the 1.5 billion Muslims should unite together to fight for the Kashmir cause. He further mocked the world community by saying,” It is more important to please the market of 1.3 billion than to fight against humanity and justice.” He also mocked Prime Minister Modi in his speech,”After the pulwama attack, you blamed us(Pakistan) and did balakot air-strike. You(India) claimed of killing 300-350 Terrorist but you killed just 10 trees of mine which was very painful for me.”

He concluded his speech on demanding world support on matter of Kashmir and the plight of Kashmiri people who are living in the rigorous conditions of curfew from the past 55 days.

Let’s come to the analyzing part. Pakistani PM Imran khan speech was of course thought provoking and very good in terms of garnering world support on the matter of Kashmir but the actual truth is very different from which PM Imran khan spoke.

Hafiz Saeed, mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks

He is talking about the plight of Muslims in Indian-administered Kashmir but what about the Ughyar Muslims who are being repeatedly harassed and stripped off of their rights in PRC. What about the conditions prevailing in Pakistani province of Balochistan. What about the ethnic minorities whose numbers had been drastically reduced in Pakistan since independence. Who is Hafiz Saeed and why India is lobbying around the world to blacklist Pakistan. There are many many questions. But in which virtual war of Kashmir, which country is going to win whether Pakistan or India is a thing to see in Near Future.
